How My Daughter Changed Our Brand

There is nothing more humbling than sitting in a doctor’s office and realizing you don’t have control.

Not as a CEO.

Not as a founder.

Not even as a mother.

Just you… holding your child’s hand… waiting for answers that don’t come.

That was the moment everything began to shift for me.

There are moments in life that quietly divide your story into “before” and “after.” Not because you planned them. Not because you chose them. But because they change how you see the world.

For me, that moment was watching my daughter, Braydi, begin a health journey we never expected.

We were told she might have a rare form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. Then genetic testing didn’t show the typical markers. Then more appointments. More scans. More conversations. More waiting.

And the hardest part?

We still don’t have a clear diagnosis.

As a mother, there is something incredibly vulnerable about not having a name for what your child is facing. No clear roadmap. No defined plan. Just uncertainty.

I found myself asking the same questions over and over:

How do I protect her muscles?

How do I preserve her nerves?

How do I give her every possible advantage for strength, longevity, and quality of life?

So I did what I always do when I don’t have answers.

I started researching.

What began as late-night Google searches slowly turned into something deeper. I started studying nerve health, mitochondrial function, inflammation, regenerative therapies, and muscle preservation. I read clinical studies. I listened to longevity experts. I went down every rabbit hole I could find.

And I kept seeing the same modalities appear again and again:

Red light therapy.

Infrared sauna.

Vibration therapy.

Breathwork.

Meditation.

Holistic recovery systems designed to support the nervous system.

At first, it was personal.

But then something shifted.

These weren’t fringe trends. They weren’t just luxury upgrades. They were being studied for their impact on circulation, inflammation, cellular health, recovery, and overall vitality.

And I remember thinking:

Why isn’t this more accessible?

Why does wellness feel like it’s either clinical and cold… or luxurious but surface-level?

Why can’t there be a place that blends science, recovery, and experience?

That question changed everything.

Massage Heights has always been about helping people feel better. But as I went deeper into research for Braydi, I realized something important.

Wellness is evolving.

People don’t just want stress relief anymore.

They want resilience.

They want prevention.

They want energy.

They want recovery.

They want longevity.

They want to feel strong and capable for decades to come.

As I studied consumer behavior and generational trends, especially among younger generations, the shift was clear. Wellness is becoming proactive, not reactive.

And our brand needed to evolve with it.

Braydi’s journey forced me to ask bigger questions, not just as a mother, but as a leader.

If I’m researching these modalities to support my own daughter’s muscle and nerve health… how many other families are doing the same?

If red light therapy, sauna and recovery tools can help people feel better and recover… why wouldn’t we integrate them into a membership-based model that makes them accessible and routine?

So we didn’t just add services.

We reimagined the brand.

We listened to our members. We studied broader wellness trends. We conducted third-party research across generations. We asked what modern consumers are truly seeking in their wellness routines.

The answer was undeniable.

People want more than a massage.

They want an ecosystem of wellness.

That realization led to the evolution from Massage Heights to Heights Wellness Retreat.

Heights Wellness Retreat wasn’t created because it sounded modern.

It was born from a very personal search for answers.

From a mother wanting every possible tool to protect her daughter’s future.

From recognizing that wellness is no longer just about relaxation. It’s about preservation. It’s about strength. It’s about extending quality of life.

Massage will always remain foundational to what we do.

But integrating red light therapy, cryotherapy, infrared sauna, vibration therapy, and other recovery modalities allows us to support the body at a deeper level. It transforms a visit into something proactive. Something intentional. Something designed for longevity.

And that evolution began at my kitchen table, researching solutions for Braydi.

I want to say something about her publicly.

She is one of the most gracious, beautiful souls I have ever known. Not just beautiful on the outside, but deeply beautiful in spirit.

She handles uncertainty with strength.

She faces challenges with dignity.

She continues to show up fully as herself, even when things feel heavy.

Watching her navigate this journey has been painful at times.

But it has also been profoundly inspiring.

She doesn’t let what she’s facing define her.

And in many ways, she has made me braver.

Braver as a mom.

Braver as a leader.

Braver in evolving a 20-year-old brand into something bigger and more aligned with where wellness is going.

The truth is, we are still searching.

We still don’t have a definitive diagnosis.

We are still in the middle of this story.

But what I’ve learned is that sometimes the most meaningful innovations are born from personal challenges.

Heights Wellness Retreat is not just a rebrand.

It’s a mission to make advanced wellness tools more accessible.

It’s a commitment to helping people feel unstoppable.

It’s a belief that we can be proactive about our health, not just reactive.

And it is deeply connected to my daughter’s journey.

If you have experience with neuromuscular disorders, rare diagnoses, or functional medicine approaches that support muscle and nerve preservation, I would truly love to hear from you.

If you know of a specialist, clinic, diagnostic test, or treatment protocol that could help us connect the dots, please reach out. We are still searching for answers, and we are not giving up.

Because as a mother, I will never stop fighting for my daughter.

And as a founder, I will continue building a brand that helps people protect their strength, vitality, and future.

With love,

Shane Evans
